Trauma & Emergency Services

Scope of Services

Spanish Peaks Hospital is designated as a Level IV Trauma Center, meaning that we are capable of receiving and stabilizing any trauma patient, including those with life threatening injuries or illnesses. To obtain this designation, we had to pass stringent state requirements dealing with the major clinical and support service departments in the Hospital. If necessary, once stabilized, patients may be transported from the Hospital in a helicopter, since we are equipped with a helipad adjacent to the emergency room.

Our full-service emergency department is open 24 hours a day 365 days a year and is staffed by Registered Nurses and physicians who are specially trained in Advanced Trauma Life Support. The emergency department has rooms that are equipped for cardiac, trauma, orthopedic, pediatric trauma and medical cases. Supporting departments offer Laboratory, EKG, Cardiopulmonary, Radiology, and Cat Scan availability. Follow-up physician referral is provided by local physicians and specialists.
