Our Doctors and Practitioners
Dr. Heather Cook
SPRHC would like to welcome Dr. Heather Cook to our team of General Surgeons.
Dr. Cook performs surgery on a same-day outpatient basis.
These procedures include, but are not limited to:
- Upper and lower endoscopies
- Laparoscopic hernia repair
- Laparoscopic gallbladder removal
- Skin and soft tissue lesion and cyst removal
Also, Dr. Cook hopes to increase her local practice to include complex bowel cases and appendectomies in the future.
After earning her Bachelor of Biomedical Science degree from Grand Valley State University in Michigan, Dr. Cook then earnd her M.D. at A.T. Still University in Missouri. She graduated from training in 2008 and has been a full time practicing General Surgeon since.
Spending her free time hiking, swimming, painting, crocheting, knitting, and sewing, Dr. Cook frequently travels to Michigan to visit her extended family.

Dr. Donald J Dutton
Dr. Donald J Dutton a Colorado native who grew up in La Junta and obtained his undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology at the University of Colorado at Boulder. He worked many other jobs prior to becoming a physician including construction, teaching high school math, machining, and eventually clinical lab science which led him to medicine.
Dr. Dutton worked at Spanish Peaks Hospital as a lab technologist for many years prior to medical school. He attended medical school at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Aurora, CO. His time spent in Walsenburg not only exposed him to rural family medicine but ultimately drew him back to this community to practice.
He obtained his board certification in Family Medicine at the Saint Joseph Hospital Family Medicine program in downtown Denver Colorado. He spends most of his free time with his wife and daughter, riding motorcycles on the street and in the dirt, and working on his home.
Dr. David Feuer
Dr. David Feuer is a vascular surgeon and endovascular interventionalist with more than fifteen years of experience. He attended medical school at SUNY Health Science Center in Brooklyn, New York, prior to completing both his residency and fellowship training at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
His family legacy seems to be excelling in prestigious occupations, his father and grandfather both worked for the United States Navy. Dr. Feuer has pursued research, teaching, and administrative roles throughout his career in addition to his medical practice. He's now passing along those values of hard work to his four children, three of which are triplets.
Dr. George Gustafson
Dr. George Gustafson is a specialist in Cardiology. He is from University of Colorado Health in Colorado Springs.

Dr. James Lee
Dr. James Lee is from The Colorado Eye Institute out of Colorado Springs Clinic.

Surgeries can be performed at Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center: Cataract, YAG, Corneal eye transplants, Stent Placements.
James Lee, M.D., practices comprehensive ophthalmology. He specializes in customized cataract surgery, LASIK, KAMRA Inlay, keratoconus, cornea, and external diseases of the eye. He also performs the most advanced types of corneal transplants including DSEK, DMEK, and laser assisted procedures.
Dr. Lee earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry from Johns Hopkins University and a Medical Doctorate at University of Illinois. He completed his internship in internal medicine at Loyola University in Chicago followed by an ophthalmology residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Lee completed a fellowship in cornea, external disease and refractive surgery at the University of Arizona.
Dr. Lee has published on topics including LASIK and infections of the eye. While in college he was published in a major scientific journal as a primary author for his work in molecular biology. Dr. Lee held an associate professor position while at University of Arizona. He is currently involved in studies for treating keratoconus as well as perfecting new techniques for performing corneal transplants.
Dr. Lee has taught surgeons in Mexico on small incision cataract surgery and is working on plans to help provide eye care to third world countries. Dr. Lee desires for a second career as a food critic and keeps a diary of culinary experiences when traveling.
Dr. Lee is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Lee is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the Colorado Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.
Dr. Lori Moll
Dr. Lori Moll recently received the Walking Stick Award and completed a Board of Fam Med Certification.
Dr. Lori obtained a BS in Biology from the University of New Mexico in 1984 then went on to graduate from the University Of New Mexico School Of Medicine in 1989. She is board certified in Family Medicine and holds the rank of Assistant Clinical Professor in the department of Family Medicine for the University of Colorado Denver, School of Medicine. Dr. Lori mentors Medical Students for the University. Dr. Lori has been with Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center since 1996. She works in all of the hospital settings to include the Family Clinics Walsenburg and La Veta, the Outreach Clinic, the hospital, and the Spanish Peaks Veterans Community Living Center. She is the Medical Director of the Family Clinic-La Veta.
Dr. Lori has been married to Dr. Michael Moll for 32 years and they have three children, one of which has followed in their love for medicine and is currently attending medical school. When not in the office Dr. Lori enjoys biking, snowshoeing, skiing, and walking their dogs. She volunteers on the board for the La Veta School Foundation. Dr. Lori especially loves to provide care for women's health, pediatrics, and geriatrics. She enjoys her long term relationships with her patients, some of which she has seen for more than 20 years.
Dr. Michael Moll
Dr. Moll is originally from Albuquerque, NM where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology "with distinction" at the University of New Mexico (UNM). He then, along with his wife, Dr. Lori, attended the UNM School of Medicine where they both received their MD degrees in 1989. Dr. Mike Moll was also inducted into the prestigious medical honor society Alpha Omega Alpha. After obtaining his MD degree, Dr. Mike trained in Family Medicine at the UNM Family Medicine Department and was Board Certified in Family Medicine in 1995. Dr. Mike and Lori Moll came to Walsenburg in 1996 and began a Family Medicine Clinic. In addition to maintaining a Family Medicine clinic they also provided coverage for the Emergency Room, hospital and attended to patients at the Colorado State Veteran's Nursing Home. Both Dr. Mike and Dr. Lori have been serving the residents of Huerfano County for over 20 years and currently work at the Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center, Spanish Peaks Veterans Community Living Center, Spanish Peaks Family Clinic, La Veta Clinic, and the Outreach Clinic.
During his time here, Dr. Mike has held many titles including Medical Director of the Colorado State Veterans Nursing Home. He currently holds the titles of Medical Director of Spanish Peaks Family Clinic, Chief of Staff of the Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center (SPRHC) and Chief Medical Officer of the SPRHC.
- In addition to being Board Certified in Family Medicine, he was awarded a Fellowship of the American Academy of Family Medicine.
- He is an experienced Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Family Medicine for the University Of Colorado School Of Medicine and has been awarded the "Walking Stick Award" by the Family Medicine Department for exceptional teaching of medical students.
- Dr. Mike was recently appointed by Governor John Hickenlooper to the Colorado State Board of Medical Examiners.
- Dr. Mike has worked side by side with his wife Dr. Lori Moll for over 20 years. They have 3 children: Sarah, Emily, and Max
- Dr. Mike enjoys playing golf, skiing and fishing and says that while he loved New Mexico, he feels much at home in Colorado and expresses his gratitude to the citizens of Huerfano County for allowing him the privilege of being their doctor.

Dr. Mark Porter
Dr. Porter is an Orthopedic Specialist. He is from Parkview Orthopedics in Pueblo.

Dr. Mark Porter, a 16 year U.S. military veteran, came to Pueblo after his most recent station at Evans Army Community Hospital in Fort Carson, CO. Dr. Porter began his military career in the Coast Guard before pursuing his undergraduate degree at U.C. Davis and his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences.
Dr. Porter completed his residency in the Orthopedic Surgery Program at William Beaumont Army Medical Center at Texas Tech University in El Paso, TX.
Dr. Porter is board certified and provides a wide range of orthopedic care, including total joint replacement, fracture/trauma care, and sports injuries.
Dr. Gordon Rhéaume
Dr. Gordon Rhéaume is an Podiatry Specialist. He is out Podiatry Associates in Pueblo.

Candace Ferguson, Nurse Practitioner
Candace completed her BS degree in Nursing with a minor in Anthropology and History from the University of Wisconsin. She completed her graduate studies for her Nurse Practitioner Degree at Metropolitan State University of Denver and the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.
Candace has been a Nurse Practitioner for over twenty years working in Family Practice, Emergency Medicine, Migrant Health Care and Infectious Diseases at Emory University, working with the Centers for Disease Control in the early care and treatment of HIV patients. She has recently completed the Medical Incident Commander program through the Army and is a Certified Medical Authority. She is currently mentoring nurse practitioner students, physician assistant students and medical students in Women's Health Care.
Candace has been married to her husband for twenty five years and they have one son. In her free time she and her family enjoy all of the outdoor activities that Colorado offers; skiing, snowshoeing, hiking and biking. She has been a volunteer with the Disabled Ski Programs and the volunteer ski patrol. She also enjoys visiting all the historic sites in southern Colorado and reads extensively about the history of the area. The Outreach Clinic has given her the opportunity to offer, not only women, but children a wide variety of health care services in a warm, caring and safe environment.
Karen Campbell, Nurse Practitioner
Karen completed her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1997. She had been an ICU/CCU nurse for 20 years before going back to graduate school.
Her experience includes practicing in both rural and urban settings caring for newborns through geriatrics.
Karen is primarily in our La Veta clinic, but does also rotate to our Walsenburg Clinic and veterans home.
Karen has been married to her husband Tom for 15 years. They have eight children, twenty-six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. In her down time Karen loves to golf, read, and play the piano.
Norma Mower, Physician Assistant
Norma Mower is housed in the Family Clinic in Walsenburg and are currently seeing new patients as well as many of our long-standing patients.
Norma originally came to LaVeta in 1976, from Michigan. She obtained her Registered Nurse License in 1991 and worked as Emergency Room Trauma Coordinator for 12 years at SPRHC. Norma then pursued becoming a Physician Assistant-C at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine in Grand Forks ND and has worked as a PA-C since 2003.
In addition to her skills as a health care provider, she specializes in Bio Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (a method of treatment when people’s hormones drop or become unbalanced to ease symptoms). Norma can also provide evaluation and treatment of Opioid Use Disorder patients – Suboxone Treatment.
Susan Walker, Nurse Practitioner
Susan is a Family Practice Nurse Practitioner; Board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She completed her Master of Science in Nursing from Regis University in 2004. Prior to becoming a Nurse Practitioner Susan had been a nurse for 28 years primarily caring for adults with cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases.
Susan provides care in both our Walsenburg and our La Veta clinic. Her areas of interest include Women's Health and Lifestyle Management of chronic diseases.
Susan and her husband have been married for 38 years. She has one son, two step-daughters, and 3 grandchildren. On her down time Susan enjoys hiking, singing, spending time with family, and travel. Susan grew up on a farm in western Nebraska and moved to Colorado after college. She and her husband raised their family in metro Denver area, and moved to Spanish Peaks region in 2015.
