James Lee, M.D., practices comprehensive ophthalmology. He specializes in customized cataract surgery, LASIK, KAMRA Inlay, keratoconus, cornea, and external diseases
of the eye. He also performs the most advanced types of corneal transplants including DSEK, DMEK, and laser assisted procedures.
Education
Dr. Lee earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry from Johns Hopkins University and a Medical Doctorate at University of Illinois. He completed his internship in
internal medicine at Loyola University in Chicago followed by an ophthalmology residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Lee completed a fellowship in
cornea, external disease and refractive surgery at the University of Arizona.
Experience
Dr. Lee has published on topics including LASIK and infections of the eye. While in college he was published in a major scientific journal as a primary author for his work
in molecular biology. Dr. Lee held an associate professor position while at University of Arizona. He is currently involved in studies for treating keratoconus as well as
perfecting new techniques for performing corneal transplants.
Personal Facts
Dr. Lee has taught surgeons in Mexico on small incision cataract surgery and is working on plans to help provide eye care to third world countries. Dr. Lee desires for a
second career as a food critic and keeps a diary of culinary experiences when traveling.
